6.4 THE INTERWAR YEARS

During the 1930s, many countries experienced the worst economic depression in their history along with America and looked to strong anti-communist leaders to calm fears of an international communist revolution.  Yet, many countries' fear of war and conflict lead the major world powers to do nothing as a handful of dictators rose to power in the world.

6.5 WORLD WAR II: MILITARY STRATEGY

On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese conduct a sneak attack on the American military port of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii which Pres. Roosevelt called "a date which will live in infamy" as he asked Congress to declare war on Japan.  America, now a part of the Allies with Britain and the Soviet Union, fights against the Axis Powers of Germany, Italy and Japan greatly tipping the balance in the worst war in human history.

6.6 WORLD WAR II: THE HOME FRONT

Like World War I a generation before, World War II involved a front that was essential to carrying out the war but was far from the battlefield: the home front.  This front allowed for nations at war to provide troops, food, ammunition and other military supplies to the battlefield in what is known as total war.
