ORIGINS OF THE COLD WAR

After WWII, the U.S.S.R. emerges as the dominant superpower of Europe as the western democracies increasingly rely on the other superpower, the U.S.,  for aid and support.  Tensions between these two over influence in Europe and around the world spark war-like conditions while avoiding direct conflict
